Zondag 1 januari

De meterstanden:

Gisteren om half een ‘s middags heb ik met Falco geskyped. Tot m’n verbazing was het tijdverschil niet 10 maar 12 uur, dus hij had de jaarwisseling net achter de rug. Verder niet veel wat we niet al wisten, maar leuk was ‘t wel. De jaarwisseling verliep hier droog, warm, en probleemloos, hoewel Flurry wel even aan de lichtshow moest wennen.

Ed heeft inmiddels applets voor Symple 13×13 en 15×15 online gezet. Ik speel nu meerdere partijen, en mogelijk moet de zetverplichting iets verder gaan in de zin van dat je als je groeit, je inderdaad elke groep met een of meer vrije punten moet groeien.

Zondag 8 januari

Ed heeft inmiddels applets voor Symple 11×11 en 17×17 online gezet. D’r verandert niet veel in een week . Wel is de ‘strenge’ zetverplichting doorgevoerd en nu gedraagt het spel zich zoals het ‘t zelf bedoeld had, met een strategische en taktische rijkdom waarin ik rondloop als een kind in een snoepwinkel.

Met Falco loopt alles voor zover ik dat kan beoordelen voorspoedig, maar backpacken met WWOOF betekent uiteraard ook werken voor je levensonderhoud. En dat kan tegenvallen getuige de laatste tweet:

En hier is het nog steeds 10 graden, met geen winter in zicht. Natuurlijk kan er nog wel eentje komen, maar veel tijd is er niet meer met de zon stevig op de terugweg. Misschien m’n eerste sneeuw-, ijs- en vorstloze winter. Misschien ook niet de laatste.

Zaterdag 14 januari

Goed, wirelifting schijnt even vergeten te zijn:

En hier is het nog steeds 10 graden, met geen winter in zicht. Lekker zonnetje zelfs, schaduwen een fractie korter.

Vrijdag 27 januari

In the south island on the west coast after a fabulous stay in Blenheim, hitchhiking now so no plan at all. Just hoping for kiwi hospitality.

Hier heeft de middagzon inmiddels een meter tuin veroverd, over de schutting, en alles is lente. Een horrorwinter lol.

Kia Ora everyone!

Here I am again! Quite a way away from my last stop, Wellington. Sam and I have been travelling a lot these last weeks. I also decided to upload some pictures, however, they are not mine, they are Sam’s, but lots of them contain places that we saw both, and the rest is quite a good indication of what I have been experiencing. It pains me to say this, but I started a Facebook page, because Photobucket takes weeks to upload 600 pics, facebook is faster. I’ll be disabling my account after my trip. I FUCKING HATE THAT SITE AND IT’S ENDLESS EMAILS.

Anyway, from Wellington we got to Picton, and wwoofed a bit more south, In Tuamarina. I was mostly clearing paths with a machette! Yay, Machettes are freaking awesome. The people there notified us of work, and we promptly made one mistake after the other, and got ripped off by wirelifting contractors. We were sacked after a week, but I have made 370 dollars out of it. That’s two white water rafting trips and a nights out that I have earned back. Since we were sacked, we didn’t want to stay in hostels. So we called one of the people who gave us a ride from Blenheim (we had been hitching into town quite a bit).
Their place was freaking awesome, situated on the top of the hill, we could see the entire valley, the north island and the entire west AND east coast of it. Also great views on the start of the southern alps. We stayed in a Bus at their place, and even though they weren’t actual wwoof hosts, we helped them out nonetheless. They showed us great beaches, we quadbiked, we fished without succes but saw the Marlborough Sounds, we did loads of stuff there! And now we started a hitchhiking trip along the west coast without planning. We got to Queenstown, starting from Blenheim. We started last Tuesday, and had a resting day in between at a lovely kiwi home.

I have loads more to tell, but internet is pricey, so it’s a shorter one, I DO plan on making a giant email when I get back and get some rest. After that it’s getting a job, education, home, etc etc… But fear not, I have a plan hatching already and a new multicountry trip is coming up.

Also, FYEAH I’M GOING TO MALTA IN JULY!
